Victoria's Secret, Jet Blue Airways and Paul & Dayssi Kanavos have conspired to create a magical evening to raise money for Russell Simmons' Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation, providing disadvantaged urban youth with significant exposure and access to the arts. The auction package on Charitybuzz includes airfare for 2 on Jet Blue, 2 nights accommodations at the Ritz-Carlton South Beach, 2 prime seats for the 2008 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show and entrance to the exclusive after-party.
The 2008 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show will feature Supermodels Heidi Klum, Adriana Lima, Marisa Miller and Miranda Kerr along with a bevy of other Victoria's Secret Angels. The show will also feature a performance by a major musical act. Last year the Spice Girls and Seal entertained the crowd and in previous years names including Justin Timberlake, Ricky Martin, Sting, Mary J. Blige and Destiny's Child have performed. Guests at the Victoria's Secret Fashion show will be seated among a star-studded audience which has previously included celebrities such as Elton John, Elizabeth Taylor, Joaquin Phoenix, Mark Wahlberg, Eva Longoria, Ryan Seacrest, Hayden Panettiere, Gabrielle Union, James Van Der Beek, Jeremy Piven, Neil Patrick Harris, Michael Vartan, Denzel Washington, P. Diddy, Derek Jeter, Lenny Kravitz, and Sting.

Founded in 1995 by brothers Russell, Danny and Joseph "Rev. Run" Simmons, Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation is dedicated to providing disadvantaged urban youth with significant exposure and access to the arts, as well as providing exhibition opportunities to under-represented artists and artists of color. A 501(C)3 organization, Rush Philanthropic fulfills its mission through three core programs: grants, exhibitions and mentoring.
Since the founding of Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation (RPAF), Rush has impacted the lives of over 700,000 urban youth, directed millions in funding from donors (including individuals, foundations, and leading corporations) to underserved youth, and established two exhibit and education facilities, Corridor Gallery in Brooklyn's Clinton Hill neighborhood and Rush Arts Gallery in Manhattan's Chelsea arts district. Initially, to jump-start the Rush Arts Gallery and Community Grants programs the Foundation hosted its first gala benefit at the Puck building in Manhattan, with Run-DMC providing headlining entertainment. Soon after RPAF created its signature event - the Art For Life benefit and auction hosted at Rush's Co-Founder Russell Simmons' East Hampton estate. It has been a sold out success for the past 8 years.
Now a franchise with galas in both East Hampton and Miami, the proceeds from Art For Life directly support Rush's grants, education and exhibition programming. Our developed programming reflects Rush's tremendous growth and service to the community. To date, The Rush Community Grants Program annually provides direct funding to over 70 nonprofit organizations that offer education programming in all disciplines of the arts to New York City and South Florida youth. The Rush Kids Program has evolved into an intensive year-round arts education program that hones the students' art making skills, bringing youth from across New York City into our gallery spaces, where they discuss contemporary art, learn about materials, and create artwork. Art concepts and cognitive skills are developed progressively throughout the program while exploring works from artists exhibited in the gallery.
Rush Philanthropic has been fortunate to have the advantage of the media power of our founders Russell, Danny and Joseph "Rev. Run" Simmons. This has given the organization an exceptional platform from which to highlight the lack of access to the arts that most disadvantaged New York City children face, and speak out on the challenges facing underrepresented artists. While proud of our successes to date, we also look towards a future in which our own programs grow to encompass more children and artists while we simultaneously use our grants program to complement our work and strengthen the network of arts education providers and alternative exhibition spaces around New York City.
