The Divine Miss M is corralling her friends in support of the New York Restoration Project's Flower Power Auction.

Mr. Las Vegas Wayne Newton has very generously agreed to donate one of his prized Arabian Horses, Gladiator, to raise money for Bette Midler's nonprofit New York Restoration Project (NYRP), bringing clean and green neighborhoods to every community in New York one block at a time. NYRP partners with individuals, community-based groups, and public agencies to reclaim, restore, and develop under-resourced parks, community gardens, and open space in New York City, primarily in economically disadvantaged neighborhoods.

The showgirl also knows how to have a good time. Her annual Hulaween Gala on Halloween night at the Waldorf-Astoria in NYC is just a flat out blast. The year we attended, Elton John, Martha Stewart, Sheryl Crow, Glenn Close, Robert DeNiro, Sting, Mariah Carey, Faith Hill, Phil Donahue and Marlo Thomas, Chevy Chase, Tony Bennett, Eartha Kitt, Billy Joel, Hugh Jackman and assorted drag queens and exotic platformed Hawaiians from the future beamed down to Bette's costumed soirée.
