Pete Doherty Gains Early Release, Plans to Perform at Glastonbury Festival
Things are shaping up for the 2008 Glastonbury Festival. Pete Doherty has been granted early release and plans to perform at the show, while the bill has been expanded to include Mark Ronson, Jamie T, CSS, the Raconteurs, Goldfrapp, the Gossip, Roisin Murphy, Kate Nash, Estelle and a cast of thousands.
Other artists previously scheduled to perform include Jay-Z, the Verve, Panic at the Disco, Vampire Weekend, Hot Chip, Duffy and the Kings of Leon. Last year the entire ticket allocation of 137,500 sold out in two hours, but tickets are still available for those who have pre-registered.
Glasto is the largest greenfield music and performing arts festival in the world, with over 700 acts performing on the 900 acre Worthy Farm in Pilton, England. Michael Eavis operates the festival for profit, but supports local and global charities including Greenpeace, WaterAid and Oxfam as a part of its mission and purpose.
