So federal wiretaps - you know, the ones supposed to catch Al Qaeda- snare the new Democratic Governor of New York Elliot Spitzer in an alleged prostitution sting. All the empty talking heads on camera yammer about resignation, but when Senator David Vitter was caught with ho's from New Orleans to Washington these folks were silent about the "Family Values" hypocrite.
Remember, when special prosecutor Ken Starr spent $50 million dump-diving through every alleged Clinton scandal from Whitewater, Travelgate, etc. and could not find a single thing until Linda Tripp secretly recorded conversations with her best fake friend Monica Lewinsky about an affair. The years of investigations and tens of millions of dollars ended up culminating in a perjury charge over a deposition denying a marital affair.
Like President Clinton, Governor Spitzer was too effective at dealing with the monied interests and this is the hatchet job.

I had to read the New York Times "Revelations Began in Routine Tax
Inquiry" several times before I was sure I didn't understand it. Somehow the IRS and the FBI noticed the Governor of New York trying to spend a few thousand dollars, and with that startling information were able to get the United States Attorney General to approve wiretaps on cellphones, introduce informants, seize bank records and who knows what else to be able to make up charges against Democratic Governor Spitzer
