Radiohead will perform its new album, ‘‘In Rainbows,’’ in its
entirety during a pre-taped, hour-long set that will premiere New Year’s
Eve on TV and the Internet.
The event will air on Current TV and Current.com starting at 11 tonight, and will repeat three times throughout the next day.
"This is Current Television's exclusive airing of Radiohead's "Scotch Mist." In this hour long private taping, Radiohead performs all of the tracks from its newest album, In Rainbows. Other elements include poetry readings and diverse imagery created or selected by the band."
Janet Jackson is gearing up for the release of her new album "Discipline" with an interview in Hong Kong's "Prestige" Magazine. She touches on all the usual topics (being a Jackson, recording her album, losing weight) but her comment on a possible Jackson 5 reunion was the most interesting. For the full interview click here.
"They’re so loved and definitely missed and there’s so much history there, musically speaking even, there’s so much that they have to give . . . there’s so much youth still there. I think about how Mick Jagger is 65 million years old, like a dinosaur or something, all of them [The Rolling Stones], and I look at my brothers and none of them look their age. Not that they’re old, they just still don’t look their age and it really trips me out. And I hope they do [stage a world tour]. They still love their music."
A Garland, Texas mother wrote a fake essay on behalf of her 6 year old daughter to win a Hannah Montana contest. The essay began with the line "My daddy died this year in Iraq." The girl's mother told sponsors that the daughter's father died in a roadside bombing on April 17th, but later recanted. The mother was shocked that the sponsors expected the story to be true and written by a little girl. The top prize included a blonde Hannah Montana wig, airfare for four people to fly to Albany, New York and four tickets to the sold-out concert on January 9th. [Source]
It's the end of the year and that means lists! So here we are with our own list of Traffic-Stopping Videos of 2007.
Rihanna "Umbrella"
The song that started Rihanna's banner year, and broke records in the process. Will anyone ever utter the word "umbrella" without thinking of Rihanna's unusual enunciation of the word, and the song's "ella, ella" hook?
2007 seemed to be the year of rehab, and Amy Winehouse lead the way with her breakthrough video. After many great singles "Rehab" is still one of Amy's best and it's her most iconic video to date.
Britney Spears "Piece of Me"
What's better than a down and out, former Mouseketeer, who surprises everyone with an amazing song? "Piece of Me" was one of the standouts on "Blackout," even getting praised as "brilliant" by the New York Times.
Along with Rihanna, Fergie was another artist who churned out one hit after another in 2007. While in the video Fergie might be "clumsy cuz' falling in love," her recent engagement to Josh Duhamel shows that in real life she's doing just fine in the love department.
Alanis Morissette "My Humps"
Without changing a word, Alanis took a song about hooking up in bars and crass materialism, and turned it into a wry commentary about the same damn thing.
Robyn "Handle Me"
Robyn's "comeback" album still hasn't hit the US and who knows if it ever will. That hasn't stopped her from earning a number one single in the UK and releasing one crazy video after the other. "Handle Me" finds her literally trapped in a series of boxes and at one point wearing, what looks like, a hot dog.
M.I.A. "Jimmy"
Jimmy Jimmy Aaja does come back, if only for a few magical moments.
Dragonette "Take It Like A Man"
Ms. Sorbora is one to watch. The video from their single "Take It Like a Man" looks inspired by a 70s porno, but all in good taste, of course.
Reverend & The Makers "He Said He Loved Me"
The single "He Said He Loved Me" from Reverend & The Makers "The State of Things" zoomed up the UK Singles charts. A fish woman gave her upper torso to complete the video.
Celine Dion channeling Tina Turner for "Simply the Best" is the gayest thing we've seen in quite a while (or maybe this is). As Paula Abdul would say, love the shoes and her hair looks great. Celine looks like she is having fun after banking Vegas for 5 years and moving on. [Source]
The new year is looking up for Brandy, as nightmares of "Caged Heat" are beginning to fade. The Los Angeles city attorney's office said it will not charge R&B star Brandy in a deadly December 2006 freeway crash because there was insufficient evidence other than the dead body in the car Brandy hit.[Source]
Mention Hannah and you will likely get a squeal or a blank stare. The hit Disney TV show has singing sensation Miley Cyrus performing as mild-mannered transfer student Miley Stewart, who just slaps on a blonde wig at will to be transformed into superstar Hannah Montana. Her family is in on the subterfuge so her back is covered.
